Sony has confirmed that the Xperia 10 VI will not receive the Android 17 software update, a change from the company's initial commitment. When the midrange phone launched more than two years ago with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset and Android 14, Sony pledged three major operating system upgrades. This year's Android 17 release was included in that promise.

A notice on Sony's UK support site now states that the device will not support the new version. The company explained that a detailed technical assessment identified limitations related to the phone's storage configuration. Sony stated that these constraints mean it cannot provide an Android 17 upgrade experience that it considers adequate. As a result, the manufacturer has decided against releasing the update for this specific model.
