Amazon gets $600 million back on Trump-era tariffs and will share some of it with customers

Six hundred million dollars in tariff refunds are flowing back to Amazon.

A tariff is a tax governments charge on goods brought in from other countries, and the Supreme Court ruled that many of the levies President Donald Trump imposed were illegal.

Amazon said it will pass some of that money back to certain customers.

What the court ruling changed When a court rules a tariff was unlawfully imposed, the government must return the collected funds to the companies that paid them. That is the mechanism behind Amazon's $600 million.
