The immune-modifying pill Lisraya proved more effective than a placebo in treating non-infectious uveitis, an inflammatory eye disease, according to Roivant and its spinout Priovant. The positive results came from two Phase 3 clinical trials involving 371 patients. The company believes this success could open a new significant market for Roivant. The firm estimates that between 70,000 and 190,000 patients in the United States suffer from the condition. More than 40,000 of those individuals are currently receiving Humira or a similar therapy. Roivant plans to file for regulatory approval for Lisraya in the first half of next year. An approval would expand the drug's use beyond dermatomyositis, a rare skin disease for which it received clearance in August.
