A top corporate lawyer who spent 35 years at Cravath, Swaine & Moore is taking an in-house role. Philip J. Boeckman will become Chief Legal Officer of Liberty Capital Corporation (Nasdaq: GLIBA, GLIBK) on October 1, 2026, per an 8-K the company filed on September 2. An 8-K is the mandatory form public companies file with the Securities and Exchange Commission whenever a material leadership or compensation event occurs.

Boeckman's Cravath career

Boeckman joined Cravath as an associate in the firm's New York office in 1991 and made partner in 1999. A year later he relocated to London, where he eventually served as Managing Partner and later as Co-Head of EMEA Capital Markets. EMEA stands for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the geographic grouping law firms and investment banks use to organize international operations.

The London office grew from fewer than 10 lawyers to more than 40 during his years there. His corporate practice covered public and private companies and financial institutions, with work spanning cross-border capital markets, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, SEC reporting, corporate governance, and internal investigations. The filing describes him as widely recognized as one of the leading U.S. corporate lawyers in Europe.

Boeckman graduated cum laude from Westminster College in Missouri, where he serves on the Board of Trustees and as Senior Fellow for America's National Churchill Museum, and earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He chairs the Society of English and American Lawyers and holds board positions at the International Churchill Society and the Foundation for the United Nations Global Compact.

Wilm's transition

Renee L. Wilm, who holds both the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer titles, will move to Senior Advisor on October 1. According to the filing, she will continue to provide strategic guidance and counsel to the company's leadership while supporting key initiatives. The filing does not disclose compensation terms for either appointment.
