Leidos has appointed Jeff McElfresh, the chief operating officer of AT&T, to its board of directors. The appointment took effect on October 1, 2026. McElfresh brings more than 30 years of experience from his career at AT&T, where he currently oversees a $250 billion transformation of the company's nationwide advanced connectivity infrastructure.

Leidos stated that McElfresh's expertise in developing and deploying advanced technologies at scale aligns with its core digital work and expanding energy infrastructure business. Prior to his current role, McElfresh oversaw AT&T's cybersecurity, data management, and labs. Before joining AT&T, he began his career as a defense tech engineer working on aerospace and maritime projects.

Bob Shapard, Leidos' board chair, said the company is excited to bring McElfresh's expertise to Leidos. Shapard noted that the depth and breadth of McElfresh's experience and leadership will strengthen the board's independent oversight as Leidos executes on its strategic vision. Tom Bell, Leidos' CEO, said he is looking forward to working with McElfresh as the company advances its NorthStar 2030 growth strategy. Bell described McElfresh's insights as invaluable for developing critical technologies that underpin Leidos' service to national security and other customers.

With this appointment, Leidos' board increases to 11 members. McElfresh will serve on the board's Corporate Governance and Ethics committee and the Technology and Information Security committee. Leidos is headquartered in Reston, Virginia, and employs 50,000 people globally. The company reported annual revenues of approximately $17.2 billion for the fiscal year ended January 2, 2026.
