CVB Financial Corp. reported net earnings of $78.1 million for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026. The company, which operates Citizens Business Bank, National Association, stated that diluted earnings per share were $0.44. This figure represents a 15.8 percent increase from the third quarter of 2025, when earnings per share were $0.38.

The improvement in profitability followed the acquisition of Heritage Bank of Commerce, which closed on April 17, 2026. David Brager, Chief Executive Officer of CVB Financial, noted that the results reflect increased profitability and disciplined expense management following that acquisition. The company marked its 198th consecutive quarter of profitability.

Net interest income rose to $179.1 million for the third quarter of 2026. This was an increase of $16.7 million, or 10.3 percent, from the second quarter of 2026. Compared to the third quarter of 2025, net interest income increased by $63.5 million, or 54.93 percent. The company attributed these increases largely to the full-quarter impact of the Heritage acquisition.

The tax equivalent net interest margin expanded to 3.89 percent in the third quarter of 2026. This was up from 3.72 percent in the second quarter of 2026 and 3.33 percent in the third quarter of 2025. The quarter-over-quarter increase was driven by a 16 basis point rise in the average interest-earning assets yield. That yield increase was fueled by a 23 basis point rise in average investment securities yield and a 13 basis point rise in average loan yield.

Average loans increased by $476.7 million, or 4.13 percent, from the second quarter of 2026. Total loans grew by $105.0 million, or 0.87 percent, from the end of the second quarter to the end of the third quarter. Average total deposits and customer repurchase agreements increased by $577.9 million, or 3.59 percent, from the second quarter of 2026.

Noninterest-bearing deposits represented 53.5 percent of total deposits at the end of the third quarter. Acquisition-related expenses declined to $8.1 million in the third quarter of 2026, down from $31.4 million in the second quarter of 2026.

The company reported an annualized return on average assets of 1.48 percent and an annualized return on average tangible common equity of 16.22 percent for the third quarter.
