Vantage Data Centers seeks $2 billion in loans from Pimco and PGIM as Wall Street banks pull back

When the banks start pulling back from a market, the borrowers turn to private credit.

Private credit means loans made directly by large asset managers rather than the commercial banks that have traditionally handled corporate debt.

That is the route Vantage Data Centers is now taking: the company, backed by digital infrastructure specialist DigitalBridge, is seeking $2 billion from Pimco and PGIM to fund its AI infrastructure.

The reason the banks are absent is that Wall Street lenders have been limiting their exposure to AI infrastructure financing. Exposure, in a lending context, means the total amount a bank has at risk in a given sector.
