Trump's pollster tells Republicans to run on health care heading into midterms

Republican senators got an unexpected directive from Trump's inner circle last week: run on health care.

Message testing, which is polling that measures how far one party's talking point beats the other side's on a given issue, showed a 46-point Republican advantage when candidates attacked health insurance companies over claim denials and profit margins.

That number nearly tripled the 14-point edge the party's pollster found for messaging around the SAVE Act, the voter-ID and proof-of-citizenship legislation that has dominated MAGA priorities.

The briefing happened August 5.
