Supreme Court lets White House ballroom construction continue for now

White House ballroom construction can proceed, at least temporarily. The Supreme Court ruled that President Donald Trump may keep the project moving while legal questions around it remain open.

In court terms, an order framed "for now" is a temporary clearance: it is not a final judgment on whether the ballroom should be built. The project began with demolition.

Trump had the White House's East Wing torn down in 2025 to clear the ground for the planned ballroom. That decision was controversial. The Supreme Court's action does not resolve the underlying dispute.

It keeps construction alive while the matter continues to be decided.
