The clampdown on gambling advertising created inventory that bookmakers no longer fill. At least one Silicon Valley firm is now moving into that space. Shirt fronts are the most prominent position in kit advertising.
When betting companies held those spots across the league, other categories were locked out.
The Premier League's restriction changed that: clubs lost an established category of sponsor and need to replace the revenue, while bookmakers lost a premium placement and are shifting their budgets to other formats.
