What she walked into was, by her own description, a "cattle call" — a large open audition where actors, dancers, and singers cycle in and out, with no individual guarantee of serious consideration.
The rooms were separated by walls thin enough to carry sound, which meant every performer waiting in the hallway could hear every other performer read lines and sing.
