British adventurer Karl Bushby has completed a 28-year journey around the globe, arriving in the United Kingdom after swimming the English Channel from France to England. He announced his arrival on Oct.
5, ending a trek that began in 1998 and covered more than 30,000 miles across 29 countries. While resting in Dover, Bushby described the moment he saw the Union Jack flying outside his hotel.
"I’m staring at the Union Jack flying outside this hotel. I’ve seen many flags over the days, but that one is special," he said.
He also shared photos on social media of his first meal back in Britain, expressing joy at eating authentic fish and chips. Bushby, an ex-paratrooper, began with only a few hundred dollars in his pocket.
