JD Vance frames November elections as a vote on American inheritance in Dallas keynote

Every American child is born entitled to the country's opportunities.

That is the short version of what Vice President JD Vance argued Thursday at the Republican midterm convention, a party gathering held between presidential elections to set the GOP's message ahead of a congressional vote, in Dallas.

He delivered the keynote address, and the speech put Vance on one of his most prominent national stages since taking office. Vance put the argument plainly.

Every American child, he said, is born an heir, with the right to inherit what he called the blessings of the greatest country on Earth. Not because of parentage, appearance, or origin.
