Home Assistant is renaming its cloud service to Home Assistant Link and removing the cloud from its logo.
The change follows a statement by founder Paulus Schoutsen, who said the company is exiting the cloud space because "big tech ruined the cloud." Schoutsen made these remarks in an interview with The Verge ahead of the official announcement.
The rebranding is part of a long-term strategy to establish Home Assistant as a mainstream smart home platform.
Schoutsen noted that many users turn to the open-source platform after reaching the limits of mainstream options such as Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Apple Home.
