Heidi Overton, President Trump's nominee to lead the Food and Drug Administration, offered few personal opinions during her Senate confirmation hearing.
Overton, a preventive medicine physician from rural New Mexico, faced questions on sensitive topics including China, vaccines, and abortion access.
She spent the two-hour session largely referring to existing agency guidance and product approvals rather than stating her own views.
The hearing was held before the committee responsible for deciding whether to send her nomination to the full Senate for a vote. Overton previously worked in the White House during both of Trump's terms.
