ESPN is preparing to broadcast its first Super Bowl this February with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman at the microphone, yet the future of that pairing remains uncertain.
While Buck recently secured a six-year, $108 million contract extension, Aikman’s current deal expires after the game.
Sources tell OutKick that the network and the analyst are far apart in negotiations, and Aikman, who turns 60 in November, has not received a long-term offer.
The hesitation is notable given that Aikman is widely regarded as the best color commentator in sports and has worked with Buck since 2002.
