Edison Scientific, an artificial-intelligence drug-discovery company spun out of the nonprofit FutureHouse in late 2025 with $70 million in venture funding, has been engaged by the team behind Metsera to create new biotechnology companies.
The deal is an early signal that AI-agent platforms — software programs capable of reasoning and acting without step-by-step human instruction — are moving from laboratory curiosity to something that drug developers are willing to pay to have at the center of company creation.
What Edison Scientific Is and Where It Came From FutureHouse, the nonprofit parent, was founded in 2023 by Sam Rodriques and Andrew White.
Rodriques previously ran the Applied Biotechnology Lab at the Francis Crick Institute; White was a chemical engineering professor at the University of Rochester.
