A planned overhaul of Tomorrowland, Disneyland's future-themed section, has reignited fan calls for the return of the PeopleMover, an elevated ride that carried guests above the area from 1967 until 1995.
Thomas Mazloum, chairman of Disney Experiences, unveiled the project at the D23 fan convention on August 15. He offered almost no specifics about what the reimagining would actually include.
Mazloum tied the announcement to Disneyland's 75th anniversary in 2030 and gestured toward the park's centennial as a longer horizon.
He said it was time to "renew that promise once again in a way that deeply honors the original and imagines the future with optimism," and that the effort starts with Tomorrowland.
