Deutsche Bank settles €152 million lawsuit with former executive Dario Schiraldi

A settlement, meaning a negotiated payment that closes a dispute without a court deciding the underlying facts, has resolved Deutsche Bank's civil conflict with former executive Dario Schiraldi.

The German lender agreed to pay €152 million. Schiraldi was one of six bankers convicted over trades connected to Monte dei Paschi di Siena. After those acquittals, Schiraldi brought a lawsuit against Deutsche Bank.

The settlement of €152 million is where it ended. A criminal case and a civil lawsuit are distinct.

The criminal proceedings delivered convictions under a high standard of proof, and those convictions were later overturned.
