Navy has selected Boeing to develop the F/A-XX, a sixth-generation strike fighter, under a contract valued at more than $20 billion.
The Department of War announced the decision on Tuesday, identifying the aircraft as a key component of the Next Generation Air Dominance program intended to expand the operational reach of aircraft carriers.
This award marks Boeing's second selection for a sixth-generation fighter program, following its 2025 designation for the Air Force's F-47.
