An AI stock is sliding to start the week, and at least one portfolio is using the dip to add shares, lifting its position weighting to 3.3 percent from 3.1 percent.

Position weighting is the share of a fund's total value committed to a single holding. When that number rises during a selloff, the manager is making a statement: the original thesis still holds, price pressure or not.

What a weighting increase actually says The move here is measured. Two tenths of a percentage point is not a dramatic reshaping of a portfolio.

It is the kind of addition that signals the manager has not changed their mind, rather than one that suggests a sudden surge of new conviction. Buying into weakness is sometimes called averaging down.
