Amazon to return $600 million in tariff refunds to some customers after Supreme Court ruling

When a court declares a tariff illegal, the government must return the tax money it collected at the border.

Amazon says it received $600 million in refunds after the Supreme Court ruled that many of President Donald Trump's import levies were unlawful, and the company will pass some of that money back to customers.

Until now, Amazon had stayed silent on whether it would return those funds at all. How the refunds came to exist Tariffs are taxes imposed on goods as they cross national borders.

Importers pay these duties upfront, and those costs are often passed along to buyers as higher prices on the shelf.
