Reddit is tightening access to its classic interface, known as Old Reddit, to limit automated traffic. The company recently began requiring users to log in to view the platform. In the coming months, that requirement will expand. Users will need an active login and must have used Old Reddit within the six months preceding the rollout to keep accessing the site. Reddit states this six-month activity window covers the vast majority of its Old Reddit users. The move is designed to stop scraping and automated traffic. It targets both new bot account creation and existing automated access. The announcement did not provide further details on the technical implementation of these restrictions.
