Police confirmed that a man was shot and killed at the 53rd Street and 7th Avenue subway station in Midtown Manhattan on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just after noon, according to the New York City Police Department.
Hassen Pinchback, a resident of Orlando, Florida, witnessed the event and told Fox News Digital that commuters began running after hearing gunshots. He described the scene as "like a stampede." Pinchback noted that the sounds of gunfire, which he described as "pop pop pop," became audible when the train doors opened. He added that a female bystander performed chest compressions on the victim before police arrived, urging him to "Hang in there."
Another witness, who identified herself only by the surname Miller and resides in Washington state, reported hearing about five shots while sitting inside a subway car with the doors open. Her daughter stepped outside the car, and Miller stated that the shooter looked directly at her before continuing to fire. Miller said she began praying, describing herself as a "very strong Christian" and stating, "Jesus saved us. 100%."
Miller said her daughter signaled to a conductor on another subway train that a shooter was present. The conductor then called 911. The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.
PIX11 reported that the shooting resulted from an argument between the shooter and the victim. The NYPD told Fox News Digital that no arrests have been made and that the investigation is ongoing.
