Cryptocurrency prediction markets are pricing in a 60% chance that Apple Inc. will launch a touchscreen MacBook by December 31, 2026, as excitement builds around the company's new iPhone lineup. The odds reached an all-time high of 86% earlier this week before cooling to their current level on the Polygon-based platform Polymarket.

The shift in market sentiment follows the recent unveiling of the iPhone 18 lineup, which includes the new foldable iPhone Duo. Binance founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao commented on the device, describing it as "pretty good for charting." In a social media post dated September 10, 2026, Zhao shared a screenshot from the Binance app displaying the BNB/USDT price on the new device.

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 and features a 7.6-inch inner display. Its 5.4-inch outer display provides about 90% of the screen area found on the iPhone 18 Pro. Preorders for the phone open on October 16, with in-store availability beginning October 23.

Investor Gary Black predicted the new phone will usher in a new iPhone upgrade cycle and substantially increase Apple's average selling price. The device's introduction has driven increased speculation regarding future Apple hardware, particularly regarding the integration of touchscreens into the company's laptop line.

Historically, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs opposed the idea of touchscreens on computers, describing the concept as ergonomically terrible. Despite this past stance, current prediction market data suggests a significant portion of bettors believe Apple will move forward with the technology within the next year. The fluctuating odds on Polymarket reflect ongoing uncertainty about whether Apple will follow through on such a hardware change before the end of 2026.
