A new command-line tool called RemoveMacAI allows Mac users to disable Apple Intelligence on macOS 27 Golden Gate and free up storage space. The developer, known as Om Lahore on GitHub, created the utility because the new operating system lacks a standard toggle for turning off the AI features. In previous versions of macOS, users could easily switch these capabilities off, but macOS 27 requires individuals to manually locate and disable specific AI settings. Even after doing so, the AI models remain on the disk and occupy space. Om Lahore states that the tool turns off Apple Intelligence in a fully reversible way. The developer claims the models take up about 12GB of storage. However, The Verge noted that the models can actually take up over 30GB. RemoveMacAI was released last week and is available on GitHub.
