Amazon is releasing new Kids Tablets that allow parents to restrict software and content access on devices running Android with the Google Play store. These kid-focused versions share functionality with the company's new Alexa Tablets but add management tools for caregivers.

The hardware features lightweight aluminum designs and 8-core processors in two different sizes. The devices are physically similar to the standard models but are paired with distinct protective cases. Amazon offers two case styles featuring characters from Paw Patrol, Barbie, and SpongeBob. A thicker, more protective option is intended for pre-kindergarten children, while a thinner case is designed for kids aged six and up.

The release expands Amazon's tablet lineup by targeting younger users with specific parental oversight capabilities within the Android ecosystem.
